Best Excavation contractors in Phoenix, AZ

A ranked shortlist of licensed excavation contractors for someone hiring or vetting in Phoenix. Ranked on an active ROC class for the work and job-relevant Phoenix city building records, not reviews, ads, or a workmanship guarantee.

Phoenix city building records through 2026-10-20, verified against the Arizona Registrar of Contractors licensing records, snapshot dated 2026-10-06. Ranking reflects license standing and city building records, not a workmanship guarantee. This week's Phoenix city building records.

Which excavation contractor has done the most excavation jobs in Phoenix?

D R H Construction Inc has done the most Phoenix jobs of any firm holding the matching ROC excavation class: 2,148 jobs, most recently in 2025. It has held ROC license 256153 for 17 years with no disciplinary actions on record.

Most established Phoenix excavation contractors

Longest-licensed firms based in Phoenix that hold the right ROC class, oldest license first.

How this ranking works

Organic results require an active ROC license, the correct class for the trade as the firm's primary or tied fit (a mechanical company that also holds an electrical license does not lead the electrician list), and at least one city building record here. The city does not label job type by trade, so volume is all of the firm's jobs here. They are ranked by the number of relevant jobs, then by how recently the firm worked, then by a clean disciplinary record, then by how long the firm has been licensed. This reflects license standing and real city building records - it is not a workmanship guarantee. Promoted entries, when present, are paid placements and are not scored by these rules.

Confidence: medium. The license class matches this trade; the city does not label job type, so volume is all of the firm's jobs here.

How are the best excavation contractors in Phoenix ranked?
Organic results require an active ROC license, the correct class for the trade as the firm's primary or tied fit (a mechanical company that also holds an electrical license does not lead the electrician list), and at least one city building record here. The city does not label job type by trade, so volume is all of the firm's jobs here. This reflects license standing and real city building records - it is not a workmanship guarantee. Promoted entries, when present, are paid placements and are not scored by these rules.
Is this ranking a guarantee of quality or workmanship?
No. It reflects Arizona Registrar of Contractors license standing, longevity, and real city building records - not the quality of any individual job. Always verify a contractor on the official ROC Contractor Search and check references before hiring.
How current is this Phoenix contractor data?
Phoenix city building records through 2026-10-20, verified against the Arizona Registrar of Contractors licensing records, snapshot dated 2026-10-06. The two datasets age separately: the board publishes licensing snapshots on its own cadence, and Phoenix publishes city building records on its own. This page regenerates daily.
